The �������� Department of Emergency Management is monitoring Tropical Storm Eta. A tropical storm watch and flood watch has been issued for all �������� service areas.

As of today’s 10 a.m. advisory, the center of Tropical Storm Eta was moving toward the northeast near 17 mph. A east-northeast to northeast motion is expected through early Sunday. A turn toward the north and northwest is expected by Sunday afternoon. Eta is forecast to approach South Florida as a tropical storm with wind speeds increasing as conditions deteriorate on Sunday afternoon. Significant rainfall and wind impacts are expected outside the cone of uncertainty due to the size of the storm.

On the forecast track, the center of Eta will approach the Cayman Islands later today, be near central Cuba tonight and Sunday, and near the Florida Keys or South Florida on Sunday night and Monday. Maximum sustained winds are now near 40 mph with higher gusts. Additional strengthening is expected through Sunday night. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 60 miles from the center. There is potential for storm surge along all coastal areas of South Florida on Sunday and Monday.
