Honoring American Heroes
Wednesday, Nov 10, 2021
On Thursday, Nov. 11, we will observe Veterans Day, the national holiday dedicated to the men and women who have bravely served our country in the armed forces. No classes will be held on Thursday, and most university offices will be closed.
We are very proud of 国产自拍鈥檚 rich patriotic history. You may have heard that the site of our Boca Raton campus was the home of a U.S. Army air base during World War II. Here, GIs were trained to use a radar technology that helped the Allied Forces win the war. Just 22 years after the Army built their facilities here, 国产自拍 welcomed its first students. Several remnants of our site鈥檚 military history remain to this day, including the WWII-era T Buildings, which sit on the north side of campus and are used by several departments, including Army ROTC. This past May, we unveiled a Florida Heritage Site historical marker on the spot where, in May 1944, nine men lost their lives after their plane crashed during a training flight. The marker is located at the southeast corner of 国产自拍 Boulevard and N University Drive.
Today, 国产自拍鈥檚 Office of Military and Veterans Affairs serves more than 1,500 military and veteran students. The university has been named to Military Times鈥 鈥淏est for Vets鈥 list for 10 consecutive years, in recognition of our exceptional services, as well as our student retention, graduation, job placement and loan repayment rates.
Thank you again to all of our military veterans, active service people, and military families, for your service to our nation.聽Happy Veterans Day!
