Danielle Granderson

Danielle Granderson, who grew up in Trinidad and Tobago, was inspired from an early age to strive for excellence in everything she does. Now a distinguished nurse educator and a recent graduate with a Master of Science in Nursing Education from Florida Atlantic University (2023), she is advancing her commitment to nursing excellence as a BSN-to-Ph.D. student at the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing.

As a pediatric home health nurse, Granderson has witnessed the remarkable expertise, resilience and dedication of family caregivers. These experiences have inspired her primary research into essential caregiver-nurse partnerships and strategies for delivering optimal care to children with complex chronic health conditions.

“For my dissertation, I am developing a grounded theory to better understand how nurses and family caregivers work together to support children with medical complexities,” explained Granderson. “I have also conducted scholarly work related to caring science, concept development and Gadamerian hermeneutics, which have resulted in two publications as well as conference presentations.”

Granderson was part of the College of Nursing cohort that attended the 47th annual International Association for Human Caring (IAHC) Conference in June at Nord University in Bodø, Norway. During the event, Granderson presented her first international podium presentation, “Reconceptualizing Pediatric Home Health Nursing as Nursing As Caring.”

“One of my favorite experiences from this conference was connecting with scholars from around the world who share a commitment to advancing caring science,” noted Granderson. “I left feeling inspired, energized and motivated to continue contributing to nursing knowledge and practice.”

Outside of her coursework, Granderson is actively involved in several professional organizations, including Sigma Theta Tau International’s Iota Xi at-Large Chapter, where she currently serves as secretary. Granderson is also a member of the Southern Nursing Research Society, Society of Pediatric Nurses, Florida Nurses Association and National Black Nurses Association. Additionally, she holds a position on College of Nursing’s Ph.D. Committee as the Ph.D. student representative.

Her academic achievements and talents are not going unnoticed. In 2026, Granderson received the Caribbean Nurses Association of the Treasure Coast Scholarship Award and the Sigma Theta Tau International Iota Xi at-Large Chapter Excellence in Service Award. Earlier in her career, she received the 2023 Florida Nurses Association Registered Nurse Practice Icon Award.

Following her anticipated graduation in fall 2027, Granderson hopes to pursue a faculty position as a nurse scientist and educator. She intends to follow her passion to advance caring science, conduct research, mentor future nurses and contribute to the development of nursing knowledge.

“My goal is to help transform pediatric home health nursing through research, education and practice innovation,” expressed Granderson. “By better understanding and supporting family caregiver-nurse partnerships, I hope to contribute to care models that promote the well-being of children with medical complexities and their families.”
