We are excited to celebrate our NRT trainees’ success at the Data Engineering for All of Us: Precision Medicine Hackathon, held on April 4, 2026, where both NRT-based teams placed among the top winners.
The 1st-place team—Nikki Leali, Adriel Abad, Joanna Lundy, and teammate Sarthak Hans—developed MEDGAP, a machine learning tool designed to predict behavioral health crisis risk by identifying early indicators of treatment instability. By flagging patterns such as emergency department visits, medication changes, and utilization trends, the tool aims to support earlier clinical intervention.
The 2nd-place team—Vinceline Bertrand, Richelle Williams, and teammate Aaron Green—created PULSE, a digital twin health application that predicts risk for six chronic diseases by matching users to similar NIH patient cohorts. The platform includes both a consumer-facing lifestyle simulator and a clinician-facing interface to support treatment insights.
Congratulations to both teams on this outstanding achievement and for representing the NRT program through innovation, collaboration, and impactful problem-solving.
